Management: Art or Science (5/19/2009 by TQM Doctor)
Can the manager who does not know the science of management be a good manager? Of course; but the inherent capabilities of the manager must be greater than the needs of the environment that draws on those capabilities. Managers that do not know the science of management are limited to their own personalities and inherent imaginations, which range from incompetence to genius. Given the choice, I would rather have a manager that continually strives to learn more about management and strive to become a better leader. This, I call the scientific manager, not to be confused with scientific management.
